MS4 is the latest generation of Variable Message Signs designed to display both pictograms and text. The MS4 increases the intelligibility of information by the use of internationally recognised warning symbols.

These signs provide a dual colour display matrix for amber and red coloured characters or symbols. They are manufactured to the UK Highways Agency specification for a two colour sign with a 20mm pixel matrix.

The signs are made up of 320mm (16x16 pixel) modules that can be combined to suite any format of display.

The standard sign is capable of displaying text from 160mm to 400mm. The sign is also capable of displaying pictograms up to 2000mm. This type of sign is used on roads up to and including 70mph.
